        The drive to the trail access road off 101 was not the greatest but drove slow. Got to Tall trees access road and unlocked the gate. It took us about 20 minutes to drive to the trailhead. Road wasnt too bad. A few potholes but otherwise good. We were the only ones when we arrived. We hiked down and did the grove loop and didnt see another person. The grove loop is nice with many tall redwoods and massive ones as well. Much of the hike ran along Redwood Creek. On the way out we passed 9 others heading down to the loop. The parking lot was small and could hold about 6-7 cars. We enjoyed this because of the isolation and limited number of people allowed per day. Yes there are other groves as nice or nicer without the drive but glad we went.

        An amazon hike! Highly recommended! this tall treehike gives you a real vibe of the redwoods! NOTE - a PERMIT is reqiured, can be done online.

        Didn't find out about the advanced permit required until the day of. Totally pointless and ruined a once in a lifetime trip for me.
