I did t stay there but we dropped off a collections of Jackets and bedding. The SD Rescue Mission was clean, the employees were professional, and the facility is very secure. Please help the SD Rescue Mission by donating.

There are some sweet and kind/conscientious workers here and for those few, Please dont let this review effect that. Social Work needs people like you and Im very grateful I was able to stay here. I had to have my car repaired and was experiencing homelessness in the area of Oceanside. That being said other staff, falsified reports in mission tracker, discriminated based on my faith (LDS) which in some Christian denominations is not seen as being Christian. Was blocked from the entrance one night at the front gate by a staff member. As a faith based person there is a spirit of god and Jesus here meaning somewhere along the way there are believing Christians that have high hopes for this organization so that is good and hopeful. In operation This is a business, in its current state it is not going help the homeless people. Im sure the success rate as it is now is very low in terms of actually helping people to rehabilitate and find housing. Shelter follows bare minimum standards to remain compliant and staff has created an environment to protect their paychecks and positions but dont actually care enough about the people staying at the shelter to engage with one another and find out how the staff can also best serve the people staying there. Many of the workers are judgmental and gossip and judge the people behind their back. Some of them Im sure this is the only job they can get surely not all of them want to be doing this (Gods) work. This was heartbreaking to see when some of these people staying here are at their absolute worst. Higher up management is more concerned with maintaining an outward image of cleanliness and positivity/faith then they are with the actual issues going on behind the walls. I was exited from the shelter after receiving a flat tire and not making it back to the shelter in time or reporting the call. I wish they wouldve worked with me more. (But I broke attendance policy rules to make sure to be in by 10:30) But this is a true account of what I experienced while being there. If its a last resort you will still have a bed and meal at the end of the day. The bad apples ruin it for the rest of the shelter. The sisters who work there, my friends who welcomed in to the shelter and those who simply put thier head down and serve with out judgment and even expressing love. God bless you guys For those considering funding and donating to this organization. I would choose another Non-Profit until some of these internal issues are worked out.
