When I first met Saul to get a bid for fixing the poor paint job on our newly-purchased home, I could tell immediately that he was very detail-oriented, and would complete work to a high quality. He was not only direct in pointing out all the issues, from un-caulked trims to poor paint coverage, but also clear about how he would make everything right--smooth walls, no gaps along baseboards, etc. Many would have balked at his quoted price, but my gut told me that he was the right person for the job. We wanted someone who would make things right, and not just literally cover up the underlying issues. In the end, Saul, Jorge and Gilberto had transformed our home completely--he not only fixed the bad paint job, but also did as much as he could to fix defects in the overall build, including having his carpenter friend refit the front door properly. Saul is a rare find: an incredibly hard worker, a perfectionist, and most importantly, a person with integrity. There were a lot more things wrong with the original paint job than Saul had realized, but rather than just ignore or fix the problems haphazardly, he took the time and effort to make it right--even if it took away from his bottom line because the project took 2x longer than he originally anticipated. But don't just take my word for it--almost every contractor that we've had in the house since to fix other issues have asked about our painter, both because they were impressed by the quality, and because Saul had done such a tremendous job making the home look as put together as it should have been.
