We approached Kyle after seeing his work to ask him if he would build a custom kitchen island for us. He invited us to his workshop and we discussed design ideas, materials, finishes etc. He was so nice and had a lot of great suggestions and direction, while still allowing us to follow our design ideas. All for a really great value.We drew up a schematic of what we wanted and he made it come to life. Actually, it is way better than I imagined it would be. Kyle does absolutely amazing, beautiful things with wood. He was great to work with, gave us helpful feedback during the design process, sent us status updates with pictures and delivered an incredible piece of furniture. Actually three pieces because the island includes an abutting bench with storage and a matching table that all integrate together to create a beautiful piece. He designed it so that we could add any countertop we wanted and we went with concrete which looks really cool with the warm wood tones and goes in our industrial style loft. The warm wood softens our grey and stainless kitchen. Not only does it make our kitchen super functional, it really looks amazing.We wanted to be able to slide the table up to the island so that when its just the two of us, we use it like a larger island with a breakfast bar. Kyle created slots in the bench so that the table legs fit right in. We also have a spice rack drawer, a slide out garbage/recycling drawer, a cubby to hole a paper towel roll which slides out and has a cutting board on top with a hole to drop cuttings through to the trash can, three huge drawers, a cookbook shelf, another shelf for storage. The bench has more storage too. Couldn't be happier. Seriously. Give Kyle a call, he is awesome to work with!

Kyle is an amazing person to work with and I absolutely love the media bench and the wall panel that he made for me.I had a good idea of what i wanted for my Media unit and a wall panel and Kyle made them just like what I wanted them to be.  He is so patient and collaborative and tried to incorporate every tiny detail I had mentioned to him while giving his honest feedback.  It was really easy to trust his decisions and the end result was perfect. Kyle is a real pleasure to work with and you gotta give him a try if you are looking for anything custom made. His prices are very reasonable and he really worked within my budget to give me everything I wanted.Definitely coming back to Kyle for anything else that i would ever need to be made. Highly recommended.

Kyle and Bay Area Custom Furniture is the best thing I have EVER come across. Kyle was a life saver and literally helped make my dreams of how I wanted my boutique to look come true.I was in the market for some side tables that I had seen online and wanted to recreate. I also was looking high and low for a reception desk that wasn't completely hideous. I first found Kyle because I saw a reception desk he had made out of reclaimed wood for another company in San Francisco, and was completely inspired. I thought that I might want it a little smaller and in a different wood than I originally saw, but it seemed Kyle could totally customize it for me.I first asked for samples of different woods with a variety of different stains and varnishes to see, as the reception desk was a big investment. I was immediately impressed by how professional the samples were that Kyle put together. When my boyfriend went to pick up the samples, each piece of wood was labeled with the type of wood and what kind/how many coats of stain/varnish were on them. They were also bundled up neatly making it really easy to transport and move around.I decided on the wood I wanted, and first ordered the table tops to 3 side tables. Kyle took 50% of the estimated cost up front (which he took via Paypal), and the rest given to him upon delivery. He delivered the table tops no problem and even attached the legs I had ordered online for free!Since the table tops went so smoothly, I decided to go ahead and order the reception desk. Kyle came over and did measurements with me and was very helpful in helping me decide the dimensions. This big job took him 2-3 weeks, and was delivered on time, and in beautiful condition.After getting the reception desk, I could not stop. I then ordered more shelves, some counter tops to go over built-in counter tops that were damaged and in not so great shape, and more side tables.I could not recommend Kyle and Bay Area Custom Furniture enough. He is completely professional, reasonably priced, will deliver on time, and most importantly, takes pride in his work. If I ever need anything custom made in the future, I will most definitely be calling Kyle. I also have a bunch of his business cards and people always come in asking where we get our furniture made. I always direct them to his website and tell them they will not find anyone better!I will also add that when I was looking at reviews on yelp for custom wood shops, I was horrified and completely turned off by how unprofessional and low-quality some of the other places in SF seemed. I read horror stories of places keeping your money for long periods of time without delivering your furniture, furniture breaking upon delivery, and people not answering your calls or emails when something went wrong. I took a chance on Kyle because there weren't reviews except for the pictures of his beautiful work, but it was SO WORTH IT in the end.
