Laurel Smile Dentistry

After having bad experience with my previous dentist in Berkeley, this is my first time to visit Laurel Smile Dentistry. And I found Dr. Sebhatu to be very kind and incredibly professional dentist surrounded by well organized staff and clean office. I had a messed up partial denture that needed a lot of work. But dr. Sebhatu and his assistant were very patient and meticulously detailed to do the work. I couldn't be happier with the work they did. Best place to be!

I came to this dentistry due to the reviews as I was experiencing tooth pain and looking for a dentistry that accepts new patients. During my initial appointment and first time in their chair the treatment of the first dental representative was extremely off putting, I was ready to leave. But another representative came in and quickly rectified the situation and made me feel comfortable the rest of my appointment. I paid for and agreed to move forward with their services. My next appointment for actual services was scheduled out a month later, in which I made clear that Ill be out of the country and the date scheduled was perfect. My appointment was set for 8am on a Monday my airlines informed me of changes to my flight that would impact my appointment on Saturday, I immediately called and left a voicemail with dentist office. Monday morning I received a call and message from dentist office about being late for my appointment. I called and spoke to representative about the flight delay that impacted me even being back in the country and if I could reschedule. After we rescheduled another month out, the representative informed me they have a 48 hour cancellation policy and that hell have to talk to office manager. I asked him if I could talk to office manager as this was unforeseen, as I was talking he began repeating take care multiple times before hanging up on me. Blatant disrespect. I called back and asked for the office manager and for a full refund. I should have trusted my gut the first time in the chair there as this was the second representative of this practice that dismissed my voice and concerns, definitely not going to return in hopes that treatment and services are better.

As a new patient who chose this practice based upon a few reviews I found, I was very nervous about the actual visit. The phone staff had been excellent, at every step of the process. The office was clean, neat, and non-pretentious. The vibe in there was good, as if everyone liked working there, which is important because the ramifications if that's *not* the case can have a negative impact on your health care. The equipment appeared up to date, and the technician who did the X-rays was friendly and professional. I've had a lot of dental work over my lifetime, some of it was a little traumatic as a child and teenager. So, I'm leery of a new doctor - I need to feel they are 100% in my corner, I want them to explain everything they're doing, or want to do, and the why's etc. I had Dr Ha. I was there for a chipped tooth. I cannot say enough good things about him - his work, his care, his manner. And - he had actually read the medical history form I'd completed :) (not always the case). I'm relieved I've found a new dentist, in my neighborhood, that not only fixed my known issue and one I hadn't known about, but gave me a good experience. As much as that's possible being a dentist doing unpleasant things in your mouth :). Highly recommend Laurel Smile Dentistry.
