They sell you parking permits for $100/month with a guarantee that youll get parking but they dont actually enforce any parking rules on residents so when you get home after a long day at work theres no parking spaces left and youre stuck paying $100 per month for nothing.

I've lived here for more than 1.5 years. The first year was great. The building was well maintained, the neighbors are friendly and courteous, and the location is central and convenient to so much. Most of that is still true. But this year they moved ALL of the management off site, leaving the diligent maintenance staff and lobby desk attendants (who don't even work for Essex) to bear the brunt of all resident questions and urgent issues. With no on site management, communications has suffered significantly and the overall appearance, maintenance of common areas and experience of living here has gone downhill. Essex seems to feel that swapping out the lobby furniture (totally unnecessary) and installing "smart locks" makes up for rude, dismissive and disconnected service from property management. If something urgent arises of a non-maintenance matter, you can't get a hold of anyone. When I emailed earlier this year to ask about a utility billing charge that was twice what it usually was, the response I received from the new community manager was flat-out rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. And now the "smart locks" have been installed on apartments; some of us questioned the point of them since the entrance doors and elevators still require fobs - then we realized they make it easier for Essex to let "potential new residents" tour the building unescorted. So now there's no oversight of people walking throughout this expensive, "secure" building.

Great neighborhood and location, very decent apartment size. The maintenance staff is always prompt and on time to take care of requests. The leasing team takes care of you as well.
