*Posting this review again, as my previous post was taken down. Please note - One of the five star reviews tied to this apartment complex was left by the Chief Marketing Officer of the property management company 2B Living, not a tenant. This is a beautiful apartment complex in a gorgeous part of Oakland, but I would caution any potential renters before signing a lease here or with the property management company, 2B Living, for a few reasons: • Accountability: 2B Living has structured their leases to ensure they cannot be held accountable. The entire Amador complex didn’t have hot water for one week during the COVID-19 pandemic and there was nothing we could do about it. 2B Living didn’t provide alternative housing options or any rental relief and we are still fighting this today (two months later). • Demeanor Under Pressure: When things are good, they are great. But the bad days can be tricky to navigate as the property management team will run you in circles to avoid having to answer tough questions or address issues properly. This culture flows down to the on-site property manager, Frances, who gets very argumentative under pressure or ignores problems altogether. If she perceives any conflict, she will either avoid you or will speak over you and make interactions uncomfortable – it all depends on her mood that day. • Perceived High-Value for Low-Value Return: This “luxury complex†has some small issues (like dryers that take half the day to dry a load completely - we were thankful to have an in-unit washer/dryer at all - and HVAC systems not installed properly / patched together with temporary fixes), but the real problem is that the team will nickel and dime you when they can. They deducted $460 from our security deposit for a “deep cleanâ€, even though we left the apartment looking even better than we had found it. For reference, the cleaning service they use (One-Connection) charges between $200 and $390 to deep clean a 700 square foot / 1-bedroom apartment. If you are a potential future tenant of the Amador or 2B Living in general, just be cautious. Their website states that they care about tenants, but they really just care about profits.
