Fabulous burgers, friendly staff! Huge win for the Balboa Fun Zone to attract this iconic LA burger stand to Orange County. The Fun Zone has never been a culinary destination, but Irv's hopefully signals a changing of the tide as good food and family fun should go hand in hand. Only comment is that seating inside is very limited and picnic tables directly outside the restaurant would be nice (but this might not be feasible with sidewalks, etc). There are picnic tables on the other side of the arcade for patrons to utilize, but it is a bit of a walk.

Parking is an absolute nightmare here and all spots are metered. Irvs is located RIGHT at the ferry entrance so its kind of a zoo outside. The restaurant is teeny tiny, really its more of a takeout spot. No tables, just a few very crammed counter seats with stools way too close to the counter (you have to be pretty tiny to fit). Smashed burger was prepared quickly and was tasty. I could use a little more salt. Its a messy burger with all the sauce but was enjoyable and fairly large compared to, say, In N Out. The fries tasted good but ours were served barely warm which was a major turnoff. Employees were fast, there was no line and the food came out in less than 10 min. This is clearly a tourist spot in a tourist area so go with your expectations set appropriately. If I was at Balboa Fun Zone again for some other reason, I may go back to Irvs, but no way Ill deal with that parking and ferry traffic situation again just to get a burger here. Parking: Very difficult to find parking. Can we very frustrating and take 15-30 min.
