We love La Toque and Chef Frank but our last visit and tasting menu felt stale, unimaginative, and the worst sin of all, under-seasoned.

Do Not Go Here. I'm a local who had nice memories of this restaurant from a couple years ago. I want to point out that the Michelin star is nine years old. We went here to celebrate a big achievement and I literally left in tears. It was that bad. The staff couldn't care less because you're paying an automatic 20% tip. First of all, they are charging $40 a glass for wine bottles that are not worth more than $50 to $200. Most restaurants around here will charge about $20 a glass. Secondly, my rabbit entree was completely raw. While they did begrudgingly replace this entre, everyone else at my table had finished eating, and they still hadn't brought the replacement. It was embarrassing. They had very little remorse about this. When you are charging $50-$160 for an entre, there is no excuse for raw protein. They still charged us $400! I feel completely ripped off. Third, everything is very pedestrian. The carpaccio is salty. The lobster salad had under-ripe mango, clunky cold vegetables, and they skimped on the fish. My son's pasta was oily and salty. And it feels like eating in a hotel, which you are. This is the cement room of a Westin hotel. Do not eat here. Napa is full of great restaurants. BTW if you go with an 11 year old, they won't allow him/her to access the kid's menu. So i hope your kid likes salty carpaccio or liver or oily pasta!

We had the most wonderful dinner experience at La Toque. The food was exquisite - every dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. But it was the service that really made our meal outstanding. Our servers Maria and Samantha were so attentive and knowledgeable. They could clearly tell we were celebrating something special and really went above and beyond to make us feel cared for. Maria knew all the details about each dish and recommended perfect wine. They also had great suggestions based on our tastes. It was clear Maria and Samantha truly cared about giving us the best possible experience. They paid close attention to every detail, from refilling waters to clearing empty plates promptly. We felt like we were the only table in the whole restaurant! La Toque is clearly doing something right to have such engaged, passionate servers on their team.
