Alex did an amazing job and I would recommend him. He redid the landscaping in our front and backyard, laid concrete in the backyard, and removed multiple trees from the front and side yard. He also installed a new, easy to use sprinkler system. His crew was there early every morning and Alex was there every day and kept me in the loop on their progress. Once he was done he took time to show me how to use the new system and set the appropriate schedule.
We plan on getting new gutters and doing a patio cover in the future and will definitely be using AV Landscaping.

Alex Woodard and his crew did a fantastic job installing our upstairs LVT flooring! We were in a pinch trying to find a contractor to replace the floor and Alex promptly got to our job to quote it and give us an exact date of when he could start the project. He and his guys are skilled at what they do and are efficient on the job. Not only does he do fantastic paver and landscape work, but is really good with any and all flooring projects. I would highly recommend him for your home exterior projects, as he is one of the best in the business. Thank you Alex!!!!

I posted a positive review before the work was truly done...my mistake. Be forewarned, after months of contacting him, he hasn't satsfactorially finished the project. Seems he built an expensive deck that is splitting wood and leaking ooze and he isn't fixing it...yikes! Drip irrigation on upper slope is improper and my 10 year old plants are dying. The workers left concrete smears on broken brick and more errors. I cannot be the only homeowner having this experience. DON'T USE THIS CONTRACTOR

Lou Ann!… I’m really sorry I didn’t see your WhatsApp messages and I do apologize we didn’t get out sooner to fix a few of these remaining items, I just sent you a message letting you know that I’m definitely happy to come out and take care of the remaining items that need to be done…Sometimes I don’t pay as much attention to WhatsApp messages as I do regular messages, I never indicated that I wasn’t going to take care of the remaining items that need to be done, and I think to be honest it’s incredibly harsh of you to go from having a few outstanding items that need to be taken care of to all of a sudden, we are the worst contractors you have ever hired and you are now calling the license board, I think you failed to understand the amount of work that went into your backyard and how much effort we put into building that thing exactly the way you wanted and then on top of all that gave you a plethora of completely free items, such as the free lighting and free fan underneath the deck, the more expensive rock that was on my own dime, not to mention the additional retainers on both sides of the upper slope, which I never charged you a dime for, if you’re gonna write a review like this hoping to damage me at least tell people the truth so they really understand what you’re talking about, my guess is that you’d be highly embarrassed if people actually knew the amount of work that was put into your backyard which is now a “dream” yard and if anything… you underpaid for what I delivered for you then to top it all off I think you have definitely failed to let everyone here know how much effort was actually put into making sure that everything we did “especially” the deck was above and beyond what you paid for and don’t forget to tell everyone that the busted old railing that you had on your deck was never promised to be redone for you free of charge, but why don’t you let everyone here know that I replaced your handrail with a beautiful brand new redwood handrail on my own dime out of my own pocket and rather then offer me any money for that additional work, you actually led me on and said that you would write me an excellent review, essentially taking advantage of my kindness so you could get free work done, if you’re gonna bring it out in the open, we might as well bring it “all” out in the open, you’re trying to tell everyone here that based on a few items still needing to be touched up, which are incredibly minor are grounds for you saying that I have ruined your life and that you are calling the state license board….just being straightforward here it is incredibly low of you to do this rather than just try to reach out to me a few more times… you could’ve even picked up the phone and tried to call me and leave me a message and I definitely would’ve responded to you, but to send me a bunch of messages in WhatsApp that I don’t always check that often and then use it as grounds to say that I just left you hanging is just wrong

We combed through yelp for nearly all the contractors in the OC area, made a short list of ~50, reached out to a dozen, met with half a dozen, got several estimates then finally decided to go with Alex. All things considered (portfolio, experience, cost, reviews, time-wise, etc..) he was way better than the rest. From the very beginning I had a great experience, Alex was quick to schedule a walk through so he could give an estimate and he gave the initial one very quickly. We then went back to the drawing board because we wanted to add some more features to the backyard, which actually took a couple months. With the new design, Alex didn't miss a beat and gave an updated estimate within a couple days. He was also ready to start ASAP, like tomorrow. After paying Alex the initial payment (which he very nicely offered multiple payment plants with varying discounts), I was nervous. Despite the great reviews, excellent communication thus far, and no red flags on his contractor license lookup, technically any contractor could just drag their feet and delay doing the job. I've heard many nightmare stories like this. That was 0 percent of my experience with Alex and his crew. Right on time, they showed up and started working. After that, there was never any doubt that the crew would show up and do great work. During this time, Alex was very involved, communicating the progress of the project very often; which was removing all existing hardscape and softscape. Then, installing tiles, steppers, building 2 benches, a tree perimeter, installing a fire table, adding diverse softscape (trees, hedges, succulents, fruit trees, etc..), LED lights, wood screens, and irrigation. Quite a complex project, basically an entire redo! During the project we really worked together to come up with what was practical and aesthetic. Alex is also very experienced and has great attention to details. I couldn't believe how many parts it took to put together a bench when I saw the invoice, but we didn't have to handle any of that. He just showed us the wood samples and asked us to pick. The same goes for other details, such as adding a weed guard in our pottery, adding odor absorber for our turf, and the list goes on These are no corner cutting things a good contractor like him would just do without you even asking. Finally, the irrigation and LED lights were super easy to hook up to bluetooth and wifi. Their app was super easy to use and rated 5/5 in the app store and connected to Alexa very easily (again small details but very important nonetheless). Finally, we requested specific fruit trees, which were not easy to find... Alex ended up visiting 3 different nurseries before finally getting them. He actually could have taken the easy route, as the nursery DID have the trees we wanted in stock. But, he took the extra time to talk to the nursery owner and verify that the trees we listed would actually bear fruit well. We actually love, love the peach tree he got us as it's supposed to yield 5 different peaches and some are growing already! In summary, I would highly recommend Alex and his crew. Alex is experienced, knows his stuff, really cares, and does things the right way. I wish I had friends who were doing backyard projects so I can recommend him to them.

If you are looking to remodel your backyard, look no further as Alex Woodard is your guy! Alex and his team did an outstanding job remodeling our backyard. He is a thorough professional, very responsive, a great communicator and fair on pricing. Most importantly he is extremely passionate about what he does and is demonstrated through the quality of his work. He came up with some really unique and innovative ideas for our backyard that have given it a "resort" like look. He transformed our old jacuzzi into a stunning masterpiece with in-built LED lighting that gave it a refreshing makeover. He also designed and built a custom made fire pit seating area with in-built LED lighting that we cannit stop raving about. He went above and beyond installing multiple power and USB outlets throughout the backyard. The backyard lighting he provided gives a completely different feel to the backyard. He also came up with a brilliant idea of creating a basketball area with a three pointer line that our kids cannot stop enjoying. He also helped us install our center gazebo area and recommended us the amazing 4K aluminum patio cover for our Sommerset barbecue island which he and his crew helped install. This was our first time doing such a big project and we are so thankful that we chose Alex and his AV landscaping team to do it for us. All in all it has been an extremely wonderful experience working with Alex and his crew. We absolutely recommend him for this and will also choose him to do our front yard in the future. Please try him out, its worth it!
