Except that he is not knowledgeable in his medical practice, he is also careless about his patients. My mom was his patient, she was diagnosed after she was admitted to the hospital. And short after admitted twice and passed away because she was late to be treated. My dad is his patient for more than 10 years. He was not feeling well and went to see his doctor. Dr. Garbis did not even examined him , nor asked for obvious tests; he just gave him cortisone and send him home, which within very soon after he was admitted to the hospital via ambulance. We thought that we lost our father too. Doctors said his co2 was very hi for long time. In the hospital, doctors explain all the s&s for elevated co2, which my dad was had when he went to see Dr Garbis. Moreover, when my dad was in the hospital for 2 and half weeks and even though we notified His Doctor the next day of his discharge, he nor anyone from his office cared and had the curtesy to ask about his long time patients well being. It is very sad! I am sharing my story for others to not go through what we went. My father is not a number or sign of a dolor, and he deserves to be treated as a human being.

My mom was diagnosed with a serious condition and I wanted to ask the doctor a few questions regarding her prognosis. The doctor never contacted me even though he had permission from my mother, his staff have told me theyve left him messages to call. His staff rarely pick up the phone and are not helpful. They are not communicative with pharmacy regarding medications. They say they will check on things with the doctor but I never hear back. Even the pharmacist my mother sees says she has difficulty getting in contact with his office. Ive never experienced this type of behavior with a medical professional. Its unacceptable and should not be tolerated. To update you on my experience, I finally was able to speak with the doctor and he had the audacity to tell me he doesnt have the time to be calling family members about a patients condition. He said this is not how it works in offices and hospitals. I informed him I used to work in a hospital and we spoke with family members regularly and Ive never had this issue with a doctor before, especially when a patient specifically requested it. When he originally spoke with my brother, my brother was at work and was in shock and could not gather his thoughts to ask questions. My brother could have called back instead of me, my mother as the patient could have also called and asked questions. You dont ignore patients, you dont ignore family members. This is not ok. If he used a patient portal like most physicians do today, then he could easily communicate with patients and patients could have access to their own records as well as notes/summaries of their office visits. I lost confidence in this doctor and question his ability and willingness to provide appropriate patient care.
