Paul Goldsmith, our attorney, based in Mill Valley, negotiated with our credit card companies to reduce our debt on all of our credit cards (we had about 8 of them!) and in most cases he reduced our debt on each card by 50%.  This was a huge savings for us and plus we didn't have to deal with the creditors ourselves.  He handled the negotiations, got it in writing, the process went very smoothly, we paid the agreed upon amount every month and now we are debt FREE.  It's a great feeling.
