Watch out, these people are sleazy. Id been going here satisfactorily for years but this year they messed up my taxes AND charged me more. When I first pointed out the mistake, they fought me. Eventually they admitted that I was right and now, two and a half months later, theyve filed the amendment - but all of a sudden theyre trying to claim that the fault was the IRSs, thus annulling their Maximum Refund Guarantee, which would entitle me to a refund of my filing fee. Nothing changed in my tax situation, and these people at H&R Block admitted that they had new software this year, so I dont buy the IRS story. They also acted like theyd done me a courtesy by fixing my taxes when theyd admitted that the fault for the error wasnt mine. Lastly, I noted when I met with them months ago that the filing fee had gone up by $45, much more than previous yearly increases, and my preparer said shed give me a discount if she could but no manager was present. After they wormed their way out of the Maximum Refund Guarantee, I asked if they could at least give me a discount - like theyd mentioned - for my trouble. My preparer conveniently forgot that shed said that. And lets not even mention the abysmal communication throughout this whole sordid process. Avoidance. Blaming others. Reneging on promises. These people are sleazy.
