It's the people of ANSWER LA who are on the forefront of political activism in Los Angeles and, it's badly needed! The elites of Los Angeles promote a very right-wing corporate agenda and, bellicose imperialist foreign policy while representing themselves as being the ultimate "social" liberals. Apart from this position being disingenuous, it serves to give the impression to the general public of a "liberal" establishment where any left opposition is not needed and, marginalize what remains of the left opposition as unreasonable malcontents given the elite liberalism. The connection between corporate power including the military industrial complex and local social justice issues is often ignored by many local politicians and institutions on the State and City level. ANSWER LA does an excellent job in exposing the connection between serious political issues on the international level and their relevance to the people of Los Angeles. Most importantly, ANSWER LA has proven that political action on the part of everyday people can and does affect change. That's why we have corporate PR campaigns trying to convince us to just preoccupy ourselves with consumerism and petty social status issues to undermine democracy!
