Very good hotel if you are only going to rest and don't plan to go out for a walk. Overall, very comfortable, clean, friendly staff. Outside noises are occasionally heard. The surroundings look very neglected (garbage on the streets).
Rooms: Large room, including bathroom.
Food & drinks: Basic but complete breakfast and even a little better than those in its category.

A little hidden from the street. The management keeps the premises clean. They offer free breakfast in the morning and provide coffee all day. The rooms were clean. The disabled-friendly rooms were spacious, and the bathrooms have handrails.

Prior to getting to the hotel, I checked the reviews on this location and was skeptical and a bit worried about the area based on prior experiences from other people. Upon arrival, there was only one thing that I could speak on truthfully from the reviews that I noticed. Yes.... it is a very sketchy location. The surrounding streets are cluttered with homeless and possibly drug addicts, and the street sidewalks are trashed and filthy. There were homeless people sleeping in front of the building, but as soon as we turned into the building property, it was very clean in the parking lot and the whole area is walled off from the surrounding streets making it feel somewhat secure, there were no homeless lingering on the property. One thing I did not notice though, was a security guard on patrol, which I feel like is something they should have considering the surrounding area is bad and could potentially be a danger to guests. Regardless of this issue, we felt safe on the property.
The interior of the building and lobby is very nice inside, clean and modern. The receptionist was nice, professional, and informative. After a certain time, the side entrance/ main entrance can only be accessed by your room keycard as well as the elevator. It can be entered, but the keycard is needed to select a floor. Our room was very clean and had a light sweet aroma to it that was pleasant. Our room was also fitted with a microwave, a kurig coffee machine, and a mini fridge. The bathroom had decent sized hand wash, body lotion, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner bottles that I've not even seen in the Hilton. They also offered complimentary toiletry items (toothbrush, paste, razors, ect) in case you forgot yours. The breakfast area offered a buffet style of sausage, pancakes, scrambled eggs, muffins, cinnamon rolls, variations of juice, fresh fruit, yogurt and a few other things which was nice for us, one less thing to do first thing in the morning. Upon returning, room services restocked the coffee supplies and replaced our towels, we didn't have to use the same ones twice, also nice but not needed.
My review is kind of long because my experience far surpassed my expectations... of the service received, not the location.
Final thoughts: My only suggestion of improvement would be to get a nighttime guard to ease the tension and increase safety security. Would I stay HERE again?... probably not, because of the area. Would I book with a Holiday Inn Express next time? For sure, I would consider it next time I go on vacation. It was a pleasant experience.

The service was friendly and efficient. The room was very clean, updated, and the bed very very comfortable. More than that it was completely walled off from the surrounding area and I felt very safe leaving my car parked in the parking lot.

Stay somewhere else! A really unpleasant neighbourhood with homeless & drug addicts directly outside the front door and on the adjacent street. This morning at 4AM there was a homeless person shuffling around the hotel corridor outside my room! The staff obviously werent watching the CCTV and although they responded it didnt look like this was unusual. Our room stank of cigarette smoke - we were able to move to another room which was better but still pretty tired and smelly. Lots of sirens overnight and shouting in the street too. Staff were friendly and breakfast was fine but that didnt really make up for the lack of safety.
Safety: Very unsafe - home less and drug addicts directly outside and sometimes manage to get into the hotel lobby, lifts and corridors. Staff seem unable to control access.
