I am sorry to hear that you were not satisfied during your recent call to Bunkado. Thank you for buying a calendar from us every year and your kind words about our “older generation staff.” As the third-generation owner of this family business, we do our best to provide the best service possible, and gratified by the positive feedback we receive. I can assure you that our level of service has not deteriorated, but is much improved since bringing my fourth generation family member to join our team 3 years ago and later promoted to manager. The initial clerk and my manager spent a considerable amount of time with you to describe our available calendars and listen to your complaints. It is unfortunate that you were left dissatisfied. Our suppliers in Japan often change their calendar selections and titles and we are not always able to order identical calendars every year. I stand behind my staff’s professionalism and I witness their kind and patient encounters with customers and colleagues every day. Although I appreciate hearing from customers of their experience at Bunkado both good and bad, poor reviews like yours hurt us personally. I am proud to continue operating this Japanese gift shop, now in its 77th year. My family has witnessed great swings of ups and downs and have resisted the tide of business closures in this historically important neighborhood of Little Tokyo. It means so much when loyal customers thank us for still being here and appreciate the unique quality of this store.
