Our home was built in the 60s and has the original terrazzo flooring that many homes have in the Pinecrest area of La Crescenta. I contacted Juan Carlos of Terrazzo Specialists and after working in a small sample area, he revealed that the terrazzo flooring had discolored over the years. Rather than a light orange hue, it was a light cream color with brass frames. After working over the course of three days, he restored the terrazzo in the front entry to its original shine. We are very pleased with the work of Terrazzo Specialists. Juan Carlos is definitely an expert when it comes to restoring terrazzo.

We had the best experience working with Juan Carlos! He is both incredibly knowledgeable and incredibly kind. He was brought on our kitchen remodel project to fix concrete terrazzo slabs that were sent to us unfinished by the company we purchased them from. We were in a really bad spot and not sure what we would do about the issue and he was there to offer us solutions and peace of mind. He and his team did an incredible job finishing, sealing and polishing our counters. He took them from drab to stunning and also took the time to properly seal them and protect them so I know we will be enjoying our counters for many many years to come. We learned so much about terrazzo from Juan Carlos, he truly cares about his trade and takes pride in his work and making his clients happy. If you are considering buying terrazzo slabs for your remodeling project I would highly recommend you explore the process of pouring it instead, if we had known better we would have worked with Juan Carlos from start to finish on our project instead of buying slabs. We embarked on a kitchen remodeling journey three years ago when we moved into our new home, and it was an exciting yet challenging experience. Our choice to install Concrete Collaborative terrazzo slabs added a unique touch to the kitchen aesthetic. Although our contractor had limited experience with terrazzo, they followed the instructions and products provided by Concrete Collaborative. Unfortunately, the initial outcome was less than ideal. Our kitchen countertops became magnets for stains and corrosion, creating a constant struggle to maintain their pristine appearance. Even a simple task like juicing a lime resulted in corrosion, and stains seemed to form almost instantly. This made it difficult to truly enjoy our kitchen. We found ourselves constantly worrying about maintenance and having to place mats to protect the counters while preparing meals. The breaking point came when a crack appeared near the sink. Frustrated and seeking a solution, we reached out to Juan Carlos for assistance. Our hope was that he could fix the crack and restore the existing slabs. However, Juan went above and beyond our expectations by providing us with entirely refinished new slabs. Juan's expertise and dedication to his craft were evident from the start. He educated us about terrazzo, highlighting that the sealers and products recommended by Concrete Collaborative weren't providing adequate protection. He also pointed out that the original slabs weren't finished correctly by our initial contractor. Juan worked tirelessly, removing the original sealer, repairing the damage to the slabs (cracks, pinholes, dents), and applying a special resin-based mix to fix the cracks. Finally, he sealed the slabs the right way, transforming them from dull matte surfaces to radiant, practically bulletproof slabs. The timing couldn't have been better, as Juan completed the work just in time for Thanksgiving, with 10 people staying in our home and utilizing the kitchen extensively. The new slabs looked brand new, and we were able to enjoy the holidays without the worry of stains or cleanup. The transformation has made a significant difference in our kitchen routine, and we are grateful to have found Juan. What sets Juan apart is not only his skill but also his genuine care for his clients. We even had the pleasure of meeting his 6-year-old daughter, who played with our daughter one afternoon. Juan's commitment to his trade and clients is commendable, and he truly made our terrazzo slabs 100 times better than their original installation. In hindsight, we wish we had discovered Juan when initially considering terrazzo countertops. His ability to create custom-poured slabs that are stronger and more beautiful than commercially available options is impressive. If you're looking into terrazzo, don't be swayed by mainstream brands; give Juan a call. We're now contemplating a larger future project with Juan, possibly involving our bathrooms. For now, we're delighted to have met this wonderful human who cares deeply about his craft and helping others (re)discover their love for terrazzo.

Juan is really knowledgeable about terrazzo which was great for us since we did our entire home. He walked us through the whole process and returned multiple times to make sure the job was done correctly . Not to mention he was totally patient with us.
