A few days ago I called Ramona, aka Mona, I asked if we can speak about my case. She said she had meetings and would call me back. I didnt hear from her so I emailed her the next day and asked to speak to her. Once again, she never called. Instead, she had Ed call. Ed said that they wouldnt continue with my bankruptcy after I paid the $1500 for a service because of my honest reviews of what happened. Their feelings are hurt because of my review and that they think Im trying to paint them in a picture that they are just out for money. In my situation, its exactly what happened, I was lied to by Mark that my severance would have no impact on me filing. Now, they knew all of the information before I paid, they 100% knew before I paid that I would have to wait 4 additional months before I could file due to my severance even though Mark said it would have no affect on me filing at the time of paying. They are experienced attorneys, theres no way they would have no idea that my severance would have the effect it did. So, I was baited to pay $1500, immediately after I paid they called and everything changed to my case. I think they figured that since I paid $1500 I would just be forced to go along with it. So, during Eds phone call today he said that they would have to mend our relationship, which consists of me removing my review, for them to move forward with the case. Essentially quid pro quo, even though they already have $1500 of my money. Ed also admitted to giving back HUNDREDS of refunds to customers. Because of my honest review about my experience they refuse to help me with the bankruptcy and also refuse to refund me. In my opinion, thats stealing. Avoid Mark, Ed and Ramona (Mona) at all costs.
Update: they did not reply to me after two attempts of calling and not until after I emailed and said I will file a complaint with the state bar did they call me back. Ed kept saying he understands where I am coming from but yet will not provide a refund. To be even more deceptive, they deleted the response here on google they wrote to me telling me to call customer service to rectify the situation.
I was very forthcoming with the information I provided about my situation. I spoke to Mark several times to do my due diligence in making sure this was a right step for me. He reassured me multiple times that I was able to file for bankruptcy and there wouldnt be an issue. After having only 1 meeting that was 1 1/2 hours long with Ramona and giving them all the information that I gave from the beginning, I decided to pay the $1500.00 retainer fee. Everything seemed fine during the intake all the information was the same from my initial screening from this law firm. Well, after they were able to coerce me into signing and paying the $1500.00 retainer fee the information I provided all of the sudden was an issue and they told me they couldnt file for 4 more months. So, I had to decide if I wanted to have collection agencies torment me for 4 months or cancel. From talking to Mark, in the beginning before signing, I asked if I decide not to go through with it am I able to be refunded. He said yes, depending on how much work was done. In my mind, all I did was a 1 1/2 hour session and should get some money refunded. That was not the case. I messaged Mark in regards to wanting a refund and he forwarded me to Ed in the billing department and Ed explained I will not be getting a refund since the amount of work was actually $2000 even though my case was abruptly put on hold for 4 months. Its no wonder attorneys have the stereotypes of being liars, now I know why. I was told one thing and the opposite happened once they received their money. Its very unfortunate, sad and dishonest. Most people going into bankruptcy probably dont have $1500 to throw away. If I would have known the very very little time I spent with them would cost me $1500, I wouldnt have tried with them. It was a frustrating experience.
