I go to the gym in the building, so their ad for a supply chain workshop piqued my interest. I work in the port and want to make a lateral transition, so I figured it would be nice to get a refresher. These seminars/workshops cost hundreds sometimes thousands, so I was skeptical when the price was so absurdly low for a three-hour workshop. Boy was I blown away. I came to their office after my workout and was not expecting what I got. Sheraf was an amazing instructor and we covered so much in so little time. We went over supply chain functions, flows, processes, cost drivers, you name it. We spent a lot of time running simulations in Excel and I’ve learned things that I didn’t even think were possible! Everyone in the room pretty much varied in background and career prospects, and he was able to give specific examples for everyone’s industry and tie it into the overall lecture. Their company deals primarily in the shipping and oil & gas industries, so a lot of the examples used were most appropriate for those interested in these fields, but the general consensus was that everyone got much more than they expected out of the lecture. I talked to the speaker, Sheraf, afterwards trying to dig into what his background was. He told me he’s been with the company for many years and had received an MBA from Washington DC, focusing on supply chain risk and financial cost drivers. I mentioned that their company could charge a lot more for these small seminars, and he told me he knew that, but wanted to make the hands-on experience accessible to all those who were interested, not only those who had corporate sponsors. As if I didn’t have enough respect for this company, that statement just blew me away. You rarely see people doing business like this anymore. SFK Inc deserves all the salutations! I know they are primarily B2B but if you have the chance to catch one of their workshops, I would HIGHLY recommend it. You get so much more than you pay for.
