On December 22, 2023, our vehicle was involved in a collision, necessitating repairs at a body shop. Upon AAA's recommendation, we selected Caliber Collision in Signal Hill. However, this choice proved regrettable, as our experience has been nothing short of frustrating. Despite two previous positive encounters with Caliber in Mission Viejo - a shout-out to Cassandra Fanfan for her exceptional communication and care - our latest experience has left much to be desired. Skipping ahead to mid-January, the shop indicated the possibility of an earlier completion date than the initial estimate of January 31st. However, as January passed without communication and with explanations of parts ordering delays, we found ourselves still without our car by mid-February. Amidst mounting expenses for a rental car and poor communication from the shop, we anxiously awaited updates. On February 16th at 4:15 PM, we received a call informing us that our car was finally ready. However, logistical constraints, compounded by the impending weekend closure of the shop, left us frustrated and scrambling. Additionally, promises of a reimbursement check for the rental car within 10 days was not something we planned to hold our breath on given the poor track record thus far. Fast forward to March 20th, when we took our car to the dealer for routine maintenance, only to discover that the repair work had not been completed as claimed. Upon contacting Caliber, Cynthia's failure to acknowledge the prior repairs on the left side, despite documented evidence, was concerning. This oversight led to our unwittingly driving a vehicle that had been reassembled haphazardly, posing potential safety risks. Subsequent attempts to retrieve information regarding the whereabouts of the reimbursement check were met with silence by Cynthia, Tony, and Denice. Furthermore, the lack of communication regarding the delay in returning our car and the need to order additional parts, despite the prolonged duration of the repair process, left us baffled. Receiving our car back, we can only hope that it has been reassembled thoroughly and correctly this time, with our safety being our paramount concern. Today, upon calling the shop to inquire about the missing reimbursement check, we were informed by Jacklyn that it had been cut on March 12th, contrary to the promised 10-day timeline provided on February 16th. The continued irresponsibility and lack of accountability displayed by Caliber Collision Signal Hill is unacceptable. Despite our insurance paying out over $10k to this shop, the reimbursement check remains unresolved. If this is indicative of their standard practices, it raises concerns about their inclusion on the approved list of repair shops. In two weeks, if the situation remains unresolved, we will have no choice but to escalate our grievances to our insurance company. It's imperative that they are made aware of these ongoing issues to prevent others from enduring similar frustrations.
