One star is from very friendly staff member that helped me to my car. The lacking stars is this doesnt feel like a tommy original its more like a bagel shop w some tommy options and there is no beef sandwich.

The Reuben sandwich was good and big enough for the two of us.  The knish was decent but not like any we would see in NYC.  They discontinued making the brisket which is what I came in for.  The restaurant is very poorly managed:  no lemon for the ice tea and almost no artificial sweetener.  Considering that there are no reputable Jewish delis in this wasteland known as the O.C., this place will have to do when we have the urge for Jewish deli.

Tommy Pastrami's got all the traditional dishes found in NY delis, but the quality of the ingredients they use is even better than what you'll find East of the Hudson River - better than in LA too!  Tip: Kudos to their house-baked, fresh rye bread - IMHO the rye they bake here is even better than what I got the last time I visited Katz's Delicatessen in NYC :-)On my first visit here, my friend and I shared their Skyscraper sandwich (half corn beef and half pastrami on rye bread).  It was made with delicious, Ginormous amounts of tender, juicy meat and the taste was simply heavenly!  To go with our sandwich, we shared an order of crispy, hot, large-cut steak fries that were fried to perfection, with just the right amount of salt; they're instantly addictive, so consider getting two orders when you're here.  On a later visit, I tried their chicken soup with matzo balls.  The taste is so outstanding that your Jewish Grandmother can retire and simply come to Tommy Pastrami whenever she needs to administer a dose of "Jewish Penicillin" to ailing friends and/or family ;-)The prices at Tommy Pastrami are more than a bit on the high side, but the quality and taste of their food is so high that it's worth every penny (and then some!).The best part - NY delis are notorious for the rude, negative attitude of their staff.  When you come to Tommy Pastrami's, you'll get NY Jewish deli-style food that's even better than what you can get in the Big Apple, with none of the negative attitude - the staff here is helpful and friendly :-)
