I was having trouble getting Sunrun to replace my inverter, so emailed Sunnycalsolar for help. I was searching for an inverter and Steve at Sunnycalsolar helped me out and advised me that my old inverter manufacturer was no longer making residential inverters. He had useful information and replied promptly to all of my emails. And thanks to his knowledge, I got Sunrun to do something! If I have to buy anything for my solar system, it will be with Sunnycalsolar!!! Awesome service, friendly and helpful!!!

I had a sort of outside-the-box project mounting a panel on the roof of my car that I use like an overland camper. Sunny Cal did a great job! Everyone I talked to was friendly and knowledgeable, and Im totally happy with the result.

Professional, knowledgeable, courteous. When we decided to go with solar, SunnyCal did everything from A to Z. The system was installed by a team of great guys who were efficient and left our property clean and neat. We had many questions as we learned to go solar and Steve and his crew never let us down. Someone came out to handle every issue; most of which were simply our inexperience with solar systems. And, let's not forget the office manager, Becky. She is a treasure. To this day SunnyCal is there when we need them. We recommend SunnyCal to everyone who is considering solar, or has solar questions.

I purchased a 24-panel system in April 2019 from salesman/designer Steve Dollens. Per contract, work was scheduled to start and finish in April, prior to the heat of summer. They did not start until 4 months AFTER the scheduled finish date and the system was not generating power until September! This cost me over $2000.00 in PGE fees not to mention loan payments for the solar system. This system was undersized and cost me another $1100 dollars at 'True Up' time. I ordered 12 more panels in 2021, since they installed the first system, I thought it best that they do it, and my second-year true up fees were $2300. They finished installation of the 12-panel system on 9/13/21 and could not get it to communicate with the existing system for 4 months! During this time, I incurred a fee of $1,065 due to the fact that I was on PGE power, as BOTH solar systems were not working. I had to call every week to get someone out there. Steve Dollens was silent for the entire 4 months and I dealt with Becky, the office manager, who along with the onsite crew were very credible. By Christmas time, I was so frustrated that I was about to call another Solar Company to come out and get the systems running and then back-charge Sunny Cal Solar. I called the office after Christmas and they sent the crew out for the last time, who got it up and running and it's been running ever since. To this day, I do not know what they did, and when I emailed Steve to find out, he told me there was nothing wrong and it fixed itself! I have this in writing. My true up bill this year is over $2000.00, of which over half is due to the incompetence of Steve Dollens' design, lack of communication, follow-up, and integrity. I am in process of taking it to small claims court and filing a complaint with the Contractors State License Board.

Ken, I just saw you review, and thought I should respond. It has years now, but I can recall some of the issues. There were three issues: 1) It seems your electrical usage increased to exceed that which your system could offset. You receive a monthly statement from PGE, so waiting for your year-end true-up to call was not a good approach. We later enlarged your system as you requested. 2) At some point you had equipment failure on your inverter, which was replaced. We responded to your request, at our expense, and did not charge you for labor or material. Your system was brought back online. 3) As I recall, you system detected an "arc-fault' failure due to an electrical disturbance. This can be caused by many things, faulty toaster appliance, a nearby lightening strike, or a problem with the solar system. If the problem occurs once, and does not repeat, it is generally a disturbance of some kind. If the problem repeats, it could be a problem with the solar system. Your fault code does not repeat.I hope this explanation is useful.
