I was in the Forge Department for 3 years. I left in June 2019. I enjoyed this job mainly because of the fellowship I had with my fellow Islander brothers. When I left the official title for the forge department employees was general worker, but don’t let that title deceive you. It used to be forge operator. The Forge department is the heart of the Irvine operation particularly because of the Samoans and Tongan that work there. I’m confident that if all the Samoans left and replaced by non-Samoans, production would decrease by 70-80%. The Forge process requires a lot of hard work that only the Samoans and T can do consistently week after week and year after year. In many instances, especially in the forge process it takes two persons of another race to do the same work that one Samoan can do. Therefore the Samoans should be paid a great deal more than everyone else. Because one Samoan does the job of two persons. That’s a lot of money man saved. The isn’t much considering the hard work we did, the amount of money we saved the company and the cost of living in OC California. You make your money from working overtime. So great place to work if you like working a lot of overtime! Employees benefits are good, you get all the works plus 401k.
