We just finished our house with all of the tile, limestone, granite and marble coming from Rock Mill. We worked mostly with Kurtis but everyone in the showroom is engaging and pleasant to work with. What made the experience extraordinary was how they delivered on both the art and the science. For the art, they took our designers concepts and suggested alternatives. Some were at a better price point, some had better wear or slip characteristics, but the collaboration was easy and, dare I say, actually fun? On the science side, Kurtis is really an expert on the means and methods of the assembly required to get the best look and best performance from each material. And, when it came to the marble counters in the kitchen, Kurtis, without us even asking, took digital pictures of each slab and then did a layout for each showing the cuts and where the pieces need to fit together. The result? We have a book-matched backsplash and grain-matched waterfall edges. (I didn't even know what those expressions meant when we started.)Finally, they did a great job handling the logistics. We had tile coming in from a variety of places and we didn't want to get started until we had all the material on hand. Kurtis worked his network to expedite when necessary and kept the whole project flowing smoothly.Could not be happier with Kurtis and Rock Mill.

It doesn't bring me any satisfaction to write this, but I feel an obligation to warn potential customers about Rock Mill and especially the manager, Kurtis.  The store is very impressive and I was excited to find a place with so many unique and beautiful options.  I was a few months into an extensive remodel and in need of suggestions and design advice.  The master bathroom travertine I purchased is wonderful, but the rest of the rendering done by Kurtis was a patterned tile that looked awful and was also a very expensive Italian tile.  I purchased tiles for a few rooms in the house, and ended up spending almost $30,000.00 at this store.  After bathroom floor tiles were installed, there was enough left over to tile another bathroom!  Kurtis literally ordered DOUBLE the amount that was needed!  He ordered (and I paid for) a hexagon patterned shower pan, then told us to cut the extra floor tiles and use them for this purpose.  After the Kitchen backsplash was completed, there was an additional two full boxes left, enough for half of the kitchen.  In addition to this, 27 pieces of 1/8" tile liner, very expensive alabaster were left over.  I asked to be refunded and was told by Kurtis that these are all special order and cannot be returned.  When I pointed out that he did not measure properly, his response was "you and your general contractor had plenty of time to verify".  Why would we question this man who has had so many years in the business and considers himself a "professional"?  I even contacted Vince, owner of all Rock Mill stores, and neither takes responsibility for errors nor the burden it has placed on me - what am I going to do with all of these tiles?  So, the bottom line is this:  Kurtis is a tile salesman, and not a designer.  He will steer you towards the most costly special order items.  Make sure you really want them and then, CHECK YOUR MEASUREMENTS, as you are responsible for them and cannot get a refund.    DO NOT trust that Kurtis and Rock Mill are acting in your best interest.  Selling twice the amount the customer needs, then refusing to refund "special" orders certainly benefits them!  I am disgusted, and DO NOT recommend this store.  You will get better prices and customer service just about ANYWHERE else.
