Coulter Pine Trail ascends the mountain by switchback and is a great offshoot to explore off Big Dalton Canyon trail. The route is often on the edge of a steep drop off, which affords great views but could make those with a fear of heights a bit nervous. It requires some cardio to get going, but the trail levels off a bit at height. There was a good blend of sun and shade with a diverse array of flora on hand. I especially enjoyed the many mossy boulders throughout the hike. Great spot for an afternoon exploration. I'll certainly be back. The trail begins and ends at the main road through the canyon, so it's easy to keep going forward and eventually loop back to where you park.

Absolutely exquisite trail, it was like a fairy tale. Plenty of shade and for a Saturday afternoon it was so quiet, only ran into one person the whole two miles. Fair amount of parking around and while the bathroom at this trail was closed there are open facilities at the Big Dalton trail.
