I went in tonight after having a rough couple weeks. I really needed to have a mini makeover and to color my hair. A very sweet lady named Virginia gave me a bunch of recommendations. She was incredibly kind and uplifting. It ment a lot since I went in with a black eye and sore body. I had been in the hospital for almost two weeks. Virginia is a gem!

I don't know if this woman was having a bad day or if she is really that awful, but Virginia made me feel very unwelcome. I came in with my music in (I listen to music when in public because I get very anxious) and I guess she may have felt I was ignoring her, but I just wanted to get in and out. I noticed her because she was right behind me. I confronted her and asked her "whats up?" She said she wanted to see if I needed help with anything. I told her I was looking for the wax strips and I told her I don't need any help (I was really trying to get away from her because she was already a bit aggressive and it made me even more anxious). She snarkily said "they're right there" as I passed them. I knew they were there but it was so hostile I didn't want to be around her. She had an attitude like I was inconveniencing her. I waited patiently for the woman at the counter to finish helping her guests so that I could express I was uncomfortable and maybe get some recommendations from her. I guess she was in on it because she kept glancing between me and Virginia and giggling. She said "Sorry, she's a little paranoid. " This means she did think I was trying to steal the entire time and was just judging me based on my clothing and awkwardness. Mind you, Virginia was staring at me the entire time from the back of the isles and through the isles as well. She did go in and out of the door in the back (I feel bad, but she must have felt offended by my adversity to her service). I kept talking to the woman at the counter trying to get some hair mask recommendations and I couldn't even focus because she was glancing at her coworker and laughing in between our conversation. I have never felt so humiliated and disrespected in a retail environment. My first time in that location and I don't ever want to go back. A man entered saying "I'm sorry I'm awkward" I'm guessing he said that because he's in a beauty supply store? Virginia goes on to say out loud and proud "Its ok, some girls are weird here." Referencing myself. I'm disgusted and embarrassed by the behavior. I didn't believe that judgmental retail employee stereotypes like that were real until now.
