Planet Fitness

This is a great gym! I only use the treamills and the weight lifting equipment and I've never had an issue. Everything always seems clean and well maintained. Same goes for the restrooms. Its one of the nicest Planet Fitness branches around Sacramento

The facilities are fine but this location has ineffective, unprofessional staff that does not represent or uphold Planet Fitness' brand values, which I would imagine is to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for its members. I can't support a business which tolerates unsavory/hostile behavior and likely borderline misogyny. In any case, this is not a place that I would feel comfortable having my wife, sisters, or daughters visit -- knowing that if they were harassed, the staff would be inadequately equipped to resolve the situation. Yesterday I witnessed a young woman getting seriously harassed by some bug-eyed male incel over usage of a machine. This person had, by mistake or intention, started to use a machine that was already in use by the woman and when he was politely informed by her, started to insult her. This was not just a rude reaction like "so what?" but a stream of insults and sarcastic remarks, continuing even after she moved on to use another available machine A FEW FEET AWAY. The woman started crying and other members came to her defense, telling this guy how completely out of line he was acting. Eventually, a staff member noticed the commotion and came over to try and de-escalate the situation. So what happened? The staff member ended up bro-ing out with the rude man and telling the CRYING YOUNG WOMAN not to be on the phone with HER TRAINER. Nevermind that there were three or four other members who had witnessed the situation and had been trying to defend or comfort the young woman. So what was the resolution? The woman bravely finished her work out in the presence of the harasser and left. The harasser had no consequences other than to publicly show what a total a-hole he was. Is the woman going to ever feel comfortable coming back? Doubtful. What the hell is that? The staff needs better training and Planet Fitness should have stronger policies governing member behavior. This was a poor resolution to a situation that was not gray at all. Really just unacceptable.
