Best Western La Posada Motel

I was visiting my Sister in Santa Paula, CA., and stayed overnight to finish my visit. This Best Western was clean and nicely appointed. The staff was friendly, helpful, and courteous. I really enjoyed the Continental breakfast. They had hot food such as eggs, sausage, and potatoes. There were two Belgian Wafflemakers. Plenty of cold and hot cereal. Danish patties, muffins, bagels, yogurt. The best part of the Continental breakfast was the fresh fruit. The fresh oranges are from old Fillmore orange Grove trees. I stayed in the ADA-accessible room, and it met my needs. Stop in and enjoy beautiful Fillmore. Rooms: ADA Accessible rooms. The bathroom had what I felt was ADA access. The mattresses were very comfortable.

The owner & manager need to come up with a plan to update this hotel. We frequent this hotel because of location & the accessibility to walk to various places. The room & grounds are outdated. 1. The ROOM IN GENERAL: Keep in mind Fillmore is going through gentrification and you need to be relevent. A. Its too drab & dark; needs more lamps & lighting. B. The walls needs bright airy art (pictures) focused on the city of Fillmore. There is so much history to share. C. Chunky chairs & a huge table in such a small room is not a good use of space. D. The bed needs linens and a blanket thats appropriate with the season. E. The coffee maker is outdated. F. The room smells musty. G. Our door was malfunctioning, in order to get the door to lock, you have to pull up the door for it to engage. 2. THE BATHROOM: A. The bathroom is definitely too dark. Guests cant really see their face. B. Women cant see to put on their makeup and/or contacts. C. It needs a lighted magnifying mirror. D. The bathroom needs a soap dish (soap is just on the counter), once you open & use it there is no where to put it. E. Towel rack is needed on BOTH sides. F. The bathroom door doesnt close well. G. Need electrical outlet on both sides of vanity. H. Hardware in the bathroom (hook behind door) fell off the door. I. Putting a coffee maker in a bathroom is a HARD NO! I dont like my food or drink near a place where someone is using the toilet. J. The coffee maker is outdated. 3. THE GROUNDS: A. The beautiful orange trees are a good representation of Fillmore. They need to be properly trimmed & manicured during the correct seasons. Just trimming the bottom of the tree is not appropriate. They are very often overgrown and the oranges fall on the ground and dont get cleaned up. B. The parking lot needs to be cleaned. C. People sitting around smoking outside of their room, is a turn-off. There is a required amount of feet that smokers need to be away from buildings. 4. AMENITIES: A. Movies & streaming opportunities are missing. Were in a tech society, we need audio & visual entertainment. You could add some of the streaming apps such as: YouTube TV, Netflix, Apple TV, Hulu, Paramount, etc. Add music channels such as YouTube Music, Spotify, Apple Music. OVERVIEW : Right now youre the only game in Fillmore thats has lodging. The town is gentrified and before you know it, someone is going to open up a new lodging opportunity that will draw your guests. There are new eateries, breweries, retail stores in Fillmore and so much more destination opportunities in areas around surrounding Fillmore that draw visitors. We want THIS Best Western to prevail and continue to operate; it has history, is dear to us and its a local gem. My husband and I have patronized your hotel for 27 years. We moved out of state a couple of years ago and come to Fillmore to visit our childrens family several times a year. PS: Under Broken Items: The front door was reported this visit. The lighting has been reported in the past. The smell has been reported in the past. Electrical outlets needed have been suggested in the past. A lighted mirror has been suggested in the past. Stayed here a few times, over the years. Always a nice stop. Great with pets too, as they have an area that pets can "do their business." B'fast the following morning is welcome, too.
