My ex and I used Robert for our mediation in the Spring of 2020 and he failed us in so many areas that I feel compelled to share the experience with others. To start, he spends his first meeting scaring you not to even consider getting your own lawyers and why you need to use mediation. Then, he was careless and did NOT have us complete Disclosure Statements (as is the norm, and required by the courts) but instead asks us verbally over the phone to recite all of our property and belongings. As you would imagine, things were missed, causing issues down the road. He is completely inept with technology to the point where all documents are printed and sent vi USPS rather than via email, protracting the process and resulting in more work for independent counsel to review. He also doesn't answer emails and told me he only communicates via phone. Also, during the mediation process, he instilled a lot of fear in me regarding the support aspect, telling me what a judge would say and scaring me into submission. My independent counsel and others have disagreed with what he coerced me to agree to and the manner in which he did it. The last straw was his inability to keep the matter "private" and "out of the public record," which he has assured us from the start. We needed to hire a new mediator to take over the submission of our final settlement because he and his paralegal were incapable of doing this properly. Divorce is difficult enough, but having an incompetent mediator makes it even harder and causing additional friction. With so many capable mediators in San Diego, do yourself a favor and interview others and I would avoid Robert at all costs.

Robert was selected by my wife to help mediate our divorce. He is knowledgeable, yet he charges $500/hr which would have been ok if I felt that he was worth it. He wasted almost 2 hours of our initial session describing what mediation was and why it was superior to going through lawyers and the courts--so we paid him $1000 for information that we already knew. Upon our 2nd visit, Robert was extremely inefficient as he made several mistakes with calculating various assets, and could hardly figure out how to use his printer, which only added to our frustration and of course, what we paid him for his services. I called him a few times and he was very slow in getting back to me, and it turns out that he charged us for this time without informing us.He charged us $2600 for developing our settlement agreement above and beyond the bill for our face to face sessions, which I think is far too much for the service provided.FIND SOMEONE ELSE WHO IS YOUNGER AND MORE EFFICIENT THAT WILL COST YOU LESS--He is washed up and needs to retire!
