My short hair cut is great. The salon space is hers, alone. I felt very safe. We both wore masks. She offers a complimentary neck trim to keep the cut looking its best.

Pheakdey has been cutting and styling my hair for over 2 years, and I've loved it every time she's finished! She is a true artist with her shears, really looking at how my hair lies and what shapes would be complimentary. I've recently started venturing into the world of color and she has created a gorgeous palate with my hair each time! I went with the balyage look, as I'm a minimalist when it comes to hair maintenance. I pop in to see Pheakdey every 3-4 months for a color tune up, and the color stays gorgeous in between. She uses a clay-based color, that is easier on your hair and way less toxic than other color options. She is totally worth the drive to El Cerrito; with easy parking right in front of her own studio, the travel time is the same versus trying to find parking on Piedmont Ave. or Rockridge. Book w/ her while you can...highly recommended!!!

I have a big event coming up, so on the recommendation of a friend, I treated myself to a little "Hairaphy" session, as well as my first lash extensions with Pheakdey this weekend. She has a cozy, stylish space in the Sola Salon Studios. I booked her because Pheakdey specializes in wash and wear haircuts, particularly for curly hair... and it's hard to find a good stylist who gets that. I was treated to a relaxing shampoo with ammonia free L'Oréal professional products, and though I know she offers excellent Balayage and Foilyage color service, I just had a good cut this time. I'll be back for that! Now, the Novalash experience was a revelation. Since it's my first set, Pheakdey spent about 3 hours with me, carefully explaining the products and the process before she started. That's a long time to be in a reclining chair, but Pheakdey is so calming and sweet, and a pleasure to chat with as she goes along. She has really good coffee and tea in her little space, and a basket of plush blankets to curl up under, so it felt more like I was hanging out with a friend than in an appointment. I was surprised to learn that Novalash extensions are vegan and cruelty free, and applied with medical grade glue. They are flexible, water, and oil proof. They look lush and very natural. And they feel, well.. like nothing. They're weightless, comfortable, and perfectly curved to mimic my natural lashes. They last 4-6 weeks, and she recommends coming in for a fill every 2-3 weeks for upkeep. Can't wait!

Pheakday (PeakDay) is a true artist. She takes time to truly look at her clients and find the inner beauty. She sees each client as a unique person. Nothing she does is cookie cutter. Every time I get a blow out for a special occasion an important meeting or just because -- she amazes me. She is a lash artist extraordinaire. Whether you want a big glam look or a natural feel, she listens and creates a look I feel my best presenting. It's a treat to spend time in her care.
