I fractured my foot and was referred by UCSD East campus emergency department to James Bates MD clinic for follow-up and potential surgery. The phone system has been frustrating, as it's difficult to reach anyone until reaching a point of frustration. When I called the Emergency Department again, they advised me to get a referral from my primary doctor. Even after following their instructions, I encountered the same issue. The earliest appointment with my primary doctor is April 4th, which means it will be a month after the initial injury to get the referral. I was then advised to contact my insurance company, but encountered similar challenges. I emphasized the urgency of my situation, as the first 48 hours are critical for proper healing. I feel frustrated by the bureaucracy and lack of patient care in our healthcare system. If there are any complications with my foot healing, I am considering legal action against all involved parties.

My 5 stars are for Dr. Papa in the womens health department, he is awesome and the best doctor, Ive known him for years since he was my OB with my 1st pregnancy and now with my 2nd one I chose to stay with him because he is the BEST I really recommend him ,the only reason I havent switched to a different place its because of him, I dont think I can find a doctor as good as him, my only complaint is the front desk in womans health department never answers the phone! But other than that I had to get blood work done in the laboratory and the girl (I forgot her name) waited for me to get it done when she was supposed to go to lunch which was really nice from her. Also a shout out to Ana Lisa and Trisha with Dr. Papa from womens health they are really good nurses and always help me with any questions that I have.
