I am a very prior patient of Dr Mertens. in 1981-82. I have nothing but the utmost respect for her. little did I realize way back then at 12-13 years old, she actually treated me as an adult. we both knew that I was bipolar, but she told me that I was not totally to blame. my mom had issues. I fought this all my life but deep down I knew. so did my dad , my dad passed 7 months before my mom at 91 years old. 2 years ago. mom was only 68. my dad remembered Dr Mertens. all my life had an issue with my mom. Dr. Mertens was brave enough when I was a kid to treat me as an adult. why post this now ? I am getting closure, finally letting things past go. Dr. Mertens is a great doctor. I gotta give kudos WHERE it's due.

Dr. Jane Mertens is a very irresponsible, dangerous doctor to send your adolecent child to. She prescribers dangerous drugs. to children without any basis for the prescription.

Very disappointed and disillusioned by my experience with this doctor. She was recommended to me by my childs psychologist. Started off fine, mostly she just did what I suggested rather than coming up with anything new, but whatever. However, her awful billing service sent me bills for AN ENTIRE YEAR marked insurance pending. Didnt send a payment because I was waiting for a statement showing what I owed after insurance paid. Never got one - instead I got a call from the billing service saying they wanted to use my credit card number that was on file for a different client to bill me the entire balance because my insurance hadnt paid. I told the billing person that they cannot transfer billing information between unrelated accounts because its ILLEGAL and called Dr. Mertens to make payment arrangements. She didnt call me back. A week later, my child had a major mental health crisis. Left Dr. Mertens another message. No response. Now I see her when I take my kid to his psychologist. Dr. Mertens pretends not to see me. Wow. So professional. So much for the hypocratic oath. All about money with no regard for your childs wellbeing. Needless to say, we have looked elsewhere for better care. In the meantime, she stopped approving our prescriptions so my child was without necessary medication while we tried to get into another doctor. Avoid at all costs!!!!!
