Dr. Chang and staff were wonderful with my children. Very patient and attentive to each child with different comfort levels. The staff was very comforting!!!

We had a great experience with Dr Chang and his staff in Covina!  The front office was very thorough and everything ran on time.  The office is good with current Covid protocols, everything was clean and we were kept a safe distance away from any other patients.  Dr. Chang developed great rapport with our very energetic 2 year old son, and we got through the cleaning and exam with very few tears.  My son was thrilled with his new toothbrush and toy and even gave Dr. Chang a high five!  We will definitely be back for future visits.

This is an update on our son's progress with another special needs pediatric dentist. Don't get swayed by positive reviews on this dentist and cause further trauma to your special needs child! Any little trauma/distress is like slow poison and will harm your child specially a toddler for years to come. If your child is crying constantly and on every visit don't think it will get better and the crying will stop. The child is NOT having a tantrum but severe distress so DO NOT THINK it will get better. Once a special needs child has associated negative emotions with a certain dentist it is going to be very hard to get out of that and get used to the same dentist. You need to change the dentist! Any good/empathetic/decent autism or occupational therapist would tell you that and it's sad this dentist did not know that. The new dentist without naming them were exceptional right from first visit. The waiting room by itself was very toddler friendly for the kids to play with while they waited with toys. The nurse, doctor every one were super compassionate. They let our son be himself while acknowledging his needs and slowing getting him used to all the equipment. They did not even force him to sit on the dentist chair!! No holding your child's hands and legs like at Dr. Chang's office!! As soon as he showed slight distress like slight crying they stopped. Then they suggested us to come more frequently every 2-3 weeks unlike Dr.Chang who claims visit of every 3 months will work. By second visit, our son did not even CRY!!! By third visit, he was letting all his teeth cleaned and letting the doctor remove the tartar!! OMG! The dentist was a savior!!!And YES MIRACLES DO HAPPEN!! IF YOU HAVE A GOOD DENTIST. If you are a good parent who cares about your child, do your children a favor and avoid this dentist. Do not confuse your child's distress/trauma with tantrums. Being a good parent means doing lot of sacrifices including finding the best fit of dentist for your child. This dentist should be glad we did not sue him!! I will have to disagree with one of the previous posts regarding the professionalism of Dr. Chang. I have been taking both of my children to Dr. Chang for over 10 years. He came highly recommended! Both of my kids had high anxiety with the dentist! Who doesn't?? My oldest daughter (who is on the Autism Spectrum) did not want to be there and that made it hard for all of us. I felt COMPLETELY comfortable with my kids in his care. He and his staff are ALWAYS helpful, sympathetic and professional! I trust him completely! My daughter, who is 16 now, had 8 cavities that needed to be filled and they took care of everything! They go the extra mile to make sure not only are the children are comfortable but the parents as well!If anyone would like to contact me to get further details, please message me!
