24 Hour Fitness

Sigh. This gym perfectly encapsulates all the stereotypes about how shallow and mean Southern Californians can be. There are a lot of people here obsessed with their image and are deeply self-centered and disappointing. I do not understand the point of looking good if you are ugly on the inside. I know this sounds harsh but I want to share a story: I was on the stair master earlier this month and it malfunctioned horribly. It went from 0 - 100 in a second, the emergency button was not working despite pressing it multiple times, and I fell really hard (with a nice injury on my leg now to prove it). No one came to help. The guy behind me with a front row seat to me falling and getting slammed on the ground just decided to continue his stretches. It was like I did not even exist. No one bothered to ask if I am okay. Listen, I am an NJ girl. In my homestate, people would get off their machine and lend a helping hand after seeing you get hurt that way I did. No questions asked. After shaking off the shock from falling, I wobbled all the way to front desk to let the person working there know that no one should go on that machine again until it is shut down and inspected because it is so dangerous. There should have been ZERO time wasted in doing that. Instead, multiple people tried to go on after me and I wobbled all the way back to help stop them. It took far too long for them to shut the machine down (anywhere between 30 - 60 minutes). That creates too much potential for more people getting hurt. I hope I have much better experiences at this gym. For now, it really represents what can make people feel very uneasy and uncomfortable about the culture of Southern California/the Newport area: the people here have a tendency to be far too inhumane and superficial. Some other notes: - The gym is unhygienic. Vast majority of people do not clean the equipment before or after using it. - Do not expect a gym culture of people helping each other out. It is more of a culture of being full of yourself (I feel sad to write this). - If you keep the above points in mind, and can work through harsh lighting, smells, and noise, the gym is okay. You can mostly get in, get your workout done, get out.

My compliments to your front desk reception person CHRIS . This gentleman exemplifies customer service beyond expectations! He is so customer oriented and a credit to your team. This employee goes far beyond his role to make people feel welcomed . He is constantly working and fulfilling his assigned responsibilities. Congratulations management for having employees like CHRIS.

As seeing other reviews, I shouldve expected this. I have been touring other gyms as I am moving to the area. I go into this location with my 3 free day pass I signed up for, and immediately a worker (from a distance) exclaims can I even help you? Walks up to the computer Im at to sign in, immediately exits out of all my progress, and claims since Im not a resident I cant tour/use the facility with my pass. She was demanding proof of residency, and saying I didnt read the fine print and she can prove to me that I didnt read it. Extremely rude. Why post on your website that I can use and the. Have an employee power trip me saying I cant. I will be reporting this to the better Business Bureau for false claims.

*Scam Alert* I knew that 24 hour fitness were thoughtless about their customers from my previews, but I didn't know they scam 3 days passes by not honoring them on purpose and asking them to pay them $25. I saw previous reviews on different 24 hrs locations that they gave the would be customers bogus reasons as to not honoring their 3 days pass, but I thought it was myth till it happen to me at Costa Mesa 24hrs tonight. This the night after I already had toured the facility prior on the same day with the same ID indicating my addres clearly. I had come back the same night with the same 3 days pass that I presented to Brian the same morning to get the tour and my body scan done. The night shift personnel asked for my ID that had brought same as in the morning, but now that I was actually wanted and ready to use the facility the night personnel told me since I don't reside in the immediate 2 cities of the facility I should pay her $25. I never been told this when I initially checked in with Brian in the morning in the same facility, and also how come the 24 hrs official website allowed me to obtain such 3 days pass if they were such restrictions of residency because I remember I had put my city of residence, state, and other information before the website sent me a 3 day pass. I now read on similar cases as mine on different 24 hrs branches, and they all resided around orange county and they all refused their 3 day passes which makes me believe this organized and systemic scam to just to bring as much fresh meat to waste their time and energy instead of honestly honoring their commitment and have a fair business dealing.
