We purchased a 50' Pilothouse in Huntington Beach, CA. Allen performed our Mechanical Survey and identified cooling system delayed maintenance on our diesel engines creating overheating and cooling system back pressure that could have been catastrophic in our plan to immediately relocate the vessel vial cargo transport, if not addressed beforehand.
Alan and his team undertook the entire 5 year/1000 hour Volvo D6-370hp delayed maintenance service, start to finish, in a scant 3 weeks post closing. This was a complex service involving complete hose & belt replacement, cooling system disassembly, inspection, full heat exchanger hot tank services, reassembly, coolant/oil change including filters, transmission cooler service & turbo inspection. He also fully serviced the Kholer genset cooling system.
This quick turn was driven by a fixed date of the vessel cargo transport to Vancouver, BC. As with any complex service on multiple engine systems, it required coordinated management of multiple dependencies. Allan took all of the drama out of what could have been an extremely stressful situation and provided the highest level of communications and flexibility to ensure a successful experience.
Last, the engine room of the boat was in Bristol condition before the service. My extensive experience with multiple Mechanics is that they can leave a path of destruction in the physical appearance of the engines, bilge and nearby equipment. That was not the case with Diesel Tech Marine Services. All of the parts were primed and painted to original. Even the bolts were touched up! Alan and his team treated the boat with the greatest care, preserving the Bristol condition of the mechanical spaces.
The attention to detail, balanced recommendations, quality of work that the team at Diesel Tech provided was world class and fairly priced. I highly recommend them for both Mechanical Survey and Diesel Mechanical work at any scale.
