Tammy is an incredibly incompetent manager. Ace Hardware machined two keys for me that broke my car door lock. Tammy is apparently an expert locksmith because all she kept repeating was that my truck was old and that the lock broke because it was old. Not because their machine copied the keys wrong. My car door lock worked perfectly fine up until taking my keys to get copied at Ace Hardware on East Ave. After trying the copied keys in my car door lock, the car door lock no longer worked. I then had the keys retooled, and they only opened the passenger side, but not the driver side door that they had already broke. Tammy has poor communication skills. She serves in a management position but constantly talked over me and would not stop talking even though I kept asking at a normal volume if she would let me speak. She just kept blathering on like an idiot robot about nothing. She said my truck was 30-years-old. It's not. It's 23-years-old. She is a liar and incompetent. She lacks basic intelligence and hung up on me after repeating lies over and over again. I am a fully disabled Afghanistan veteran and Ace Hardware on East Ave of Chico is in the business of screwing over veterans and customers and taking no responsibility for it. Ace Hardware will blame climate change for things they broke. That is how incompetent Tammy and Ace Hardware are. Tammy also told me that her mom had a heart attack that morning, and it may take her some time to get back to me. That is incredibly poor customer service to manipulate a customer who you just screwed over by putting your own personal difficulties into the conversation. Tammy should be fired for psychological and emotional abuse of a disabled veteran. I literally had to yell to get a word in. Ace Hardware is a corporate monster and a perfect example of why America is a complete garbage dump now.

A watering can costs $30. That is ridiculous. I am tired of being asked to donate to charity at checkout. I was asked to round-up at Ace Hardware from $49.75 to $50. I initially said no, then after the guilt and pressure of being asked in that situation, I said fine. I was so mad about it that when I picked up my groceries from Safeway and was asked if I wanted to donate to research for breast cancer, I said no, and my mom died of breast cancer when I was nine-years-old in 1990. I am tired of being asked to give money to researchers and charities who squander the money and produce zero results. They may as well be politicians. 40,000 women die of breast cancer every year. 40,000 X 34-years = 1,360,000 women have died of breast cancer since 1990. What are researchers doing with all those donations?

Overall, Ace Hardware for me is a good store to buy home improvement type products from if you're on that side of town. They surprisingly always seem to have what I'm looking for, just that the prices seem to be 10-15% more than the bigger home improvement stores. But I do appreciate their location since they are on the opposite end of Chico, from Lowes/Home Depot. So, if I'm tight on time and just picking up a few items, I'll head over there. The one exception is their gardening department - once they get new flowers/plants/veggies in for spring planting. They have some really good and unique varieties that I can't find elsewhere easily. So, I always check that out a few times once I've noticed they have new stuff displaying out in front of the store. I've also experienced that their internal "Ace Hardware" product line is pretty solid too. I'm always nervous about buying private label products as they always seem inferior and never last long.
