This place is slowly becoming a second home for our family! Carissa, Sophia and Catrina put every part of themselves into giving the students under their tutelage a proper dance education, while highlighting how the body works in dance anatomically and proper safe techniques in dance. Director Carissa has created a culture of self respect, confidence and community. I am such an admirer of what she has created that I myself started to take the adult classes at her studio.I don't see us going anywhere anytime soon!

The instructor really took the time to focus on me. She pointed out many things I hadn't noticed regarding my technique. You don't find this kind of personalized attention everywhere.

"Dancer" is not a word that I could use honestly to describe myself, so I had considerable trepidation about our Father-Bride wedding dance.  I called Carissa to ask if it would be feasible to do something fun in the three weeks remaining before the Big Day. She was very encouraging and said that she offers that service regularly. Of course, she would say that, but was it just a sales pitch? So I dropped by her studio to have a look, hoping to discuss it further before making a commitment. She was teaching a class of tiny ballerinas and it was quite a sight to behold. Carissa was upbeat, smiling, kind, patient and purposeful as she led her class through their exercises. Okay, I thought, she teaches beginning ballet to children but can she teach an old dog new tricks in just three weeks? We soon learned that she is a very experienced and creative choreographer who works well with people of all ages. My daughter and I were thrilled with the ambitious routine that she quickly created and taught us, making a few adjustments along the way. We could have used more time to prepare and I encourage anybody who wants to do what we did to allow six weeks for scheduling because you will still need lots of practice. After the wedding reception dinner, several toasts and a few glasses of wine, we certainly missed a few steps but (A) we had a ball and (B) we were surprised to hear many people say that it was the best Father-Bride dance they had ever seen. Whew! If you have a tiny dancer and want them to develop poise, conditioning and dancing abilities, call Carissa. If, like me, you are an older person who just wants to learn how to dance, call Carissa. She is talented, energetic and it was a joy working with her.
