I met these guys recently at their cabinet shop in Chatsworth. I heard them on the radio and wanted to talk to them about a service we provide that would help them sell more kitchen and bath cabinets. When I arrvied I heard the unqiue sound of a cabinet shop building dreams for home owners. The sights and sounds took me back to the day when I was a kid observing from a short distance as my Grandfather built my mom a desk in the basement of our midwestern rented home. By today's time standards it took him a lifetime to build it, and he wasn't perfect with his measurements, but it was a desk my mom cherished until her death in 1988.
The love and attention my Grandfather gave to every detail was mind boggling for me as a child. He cared so much about giving my mom, his daughter, something he knew would be useful to her for the rest of her life. Something she could cherish and something he would be proud of.
When I smelled the sawdust at Classic Wood Craft and heard the sound of machines cutting wood I sensed a deep feeling of nostalgia from those great memories of mine. It made me want to buy an entire kitchen full of brand new cabinets just so I could relive those great moments again and share them with my kids. There's just something special about watching someone build something from scratch. It's that wondeful sense of creativity God has allowed each of us to participate in.
Kevin then showed me some of their beautiful work and I realized then and there that my dear Grandfather was a novice wood crafter, to be sure. The attention to detail that Kevin & Jim give to every cabinet or home theatre project is amazing and inspiring, but their achievement of perfection is what seperates them from people like my Grandfather. I can see why they've been around for nearly 20 years and will be for another 20 years.
Our kitichen will need new cabinets one day soon and my plan is to call Kevin & Jim at Classic Wood Craft and let them help create memories for my kids as we observe from a short distance the making of a dream for us as a family.
So, though they did not build a cabinet for me yet, I know quality people when I meet them and the byproduct of their personal character is in the quality cabinets that I saw with my own eyes.
