I finally got time to write some reviews for HGG. I've heard lots of good things about it before my son joined. He spent about 9 months at HGG around 2017. I think it might have been due to the director change. The teachers in room 2 (not sure about this number, little lamb? ) were not happy. So on the first day of school, when I dropped off my son the teacher was super cold and said:" new kid? I didn't know we are getting new one!" Overall the morale in the classroom was really bad and I don't see any love and care they put in kids. My son didn't speak English very well when he joined and after a month or so, he could yell "you're not listening to me!!! " very well. Cannot imagine what happened to him... Some time we picked up the kids early and even saw the teacher giving them YouTube to watch on her phone. Also during that time, they raised the tuition... I'm so glad my son joined another very very good school afterwards and it's also cheaper. Though the location was not as convenient to me as HGG. I'm so sad that each time we drive by grove way and my son saw that church sign, he still panics and said he doesn't wanna go back to that teacher's class. I don't think he remembers all the details as he was very little at that time but he must have been pretty traumatized due to that experience.

I have had 3 kids go through this preschool and I was happy until the director changed. Kandi is very difficult to give feedback as she is passive aggressive. The school curriculum is outdated. She even goes as far as hold your child back from advancing classes. Many great teachers have left unfortunately. Also the church is placing a homeless shelter on the site which is very concerning for safety. This by the way was not communicate to parents till the last minute and when you ask any questions, the response is vague. Recently pg&e had a power outage that didn't affect the school and the doors were closed with no commutation to parents for 2 days! This is outrageous given the high fees we pay. Please be aware.

So, I need to update my review: to first address the new Covid guidelines and address the addition of yet another new family member and their attendance in this wonderful program. All of my kids have attended HGG. But My 6 month old was the youngest to attend post Covid. He's 8 months now and thriving. Ms. Yesica is one of the most attentive teachers there. She is kind, she writes thoughtful notes, she pays attention to his off days, and she's even bought food for him that she thought he might like. She's AMAZING. Simply put, I couldn't be more thrilled to have her watching my baby especially during these ridiculous times. My two year attends there and he is thriving. Hes a cuddle bear by nature so he is lucky to get warm and kind teachers to teach him things. He can get wild at times but he always talks to me about how much he likes his teachers and for that I'm utterly grateful. His adjustment from Room 1 (pre Covid) to Room 3 (post Covid) was seamless and for that I am extremely grateful!! My four year old is attending their kindergarten prep room and I couldn't be more thrilled. Ms. Gloria is a godsend! I love her!!! She has taught her how to write her name, her numbers, her letters... AND best of all she's giving my little girl a sense of independence. For that I will be eternally grateful. She came back to daycare very uneasy, whiny, and a little unsure of herself. But she comes home well adjusted and happy. I couldn't ask for a better teacher. She is learning so much from that program. Ms. Gloria is by far the BEST teacher there. So I didn't make the decision easily to put my kids back in daycare with all of the Covid issues. I had much anxiety about it. But I saw that my kids would be better with other kids and would be better back in the same environment they had spent their whole lives in : at HGG. There were some changes of course. Temperature checks, sanitizer, and the like. But I have to give a shout out to Julia and Jennifer who are really the front of the house. They coordinate the drop off and pick up of your child (since you're no longer allowed to go into the entire facility anymore). Now my husband handles dropoff but I am so happy when I can see Jennifer in her beautiful array of color coordinated masks and shoes. She is probably the funniest and nicest individual. She is just great. I don't have enough time or space to write about how much I enjoy seeing her every afternoon. But I do. She will check your temp and if it is reading too high you are not allowed to enter (due to the hot weather that has happened to me but I did not have a fever! Lol) Instead she will bring the sign out sheet to you to sign and your kids will be given to you outside. It's great sense of relief to see so many precautions taken. Julia handles every administrative and she is just on it. She is just so kind and sweet and makes sure that place is run right!!! And then there's Kandi ready to step in whatever role she needs to fill. She's right there making sure the place is run right. I'm just so happy I made the decision to take my kids back. They are happy and so am I!
