We bought a brand new Whynter freezer/fridge via Home Depot. Granted, we didn't open the package until months later when we needed it. After leaving it plugged in for days the fridge never cooled. Home Depot does not take back appliances so we referred to the manufacture Warranty. After going back and forth with Whynter customer service, we are still required to pay $340 to ship a brand new fridge that never worked when bought for warranty repair.

I purchased a 500 dollar AC unit from Whynter about 1 year ago today. The good news is, I was able to utilize it for one season before all of the freon refrigerant leaked out of the unit, rendering the condenser/dehumidifier completely useless. When i received this unit there was no damage to the box, no physical damage to the unit either. Upon disassembly, there was a massive dent in the copper tubing which cycled the freon through the condenser. This was clearly damage that occurred during manufacturing. Unfortunately this dent sprung a pinhole leak, which exhausted all of the freon from the unit, rendering it useless after the first season. But don't worry!! Whynter will repair the unit. All you have to do is spend $200 dollars to ship it back to their facilities for repair, for a mistake they made during manufacturing. That would mean a total of $700 sunk cost, at that point. To be honest, I don't even feel comfortable sending the unit back for repair. God only knows if it will work at all when I receive it. That's a risk i'm not willing to take, given the other reviews and experiences I've had with this company. I've spent several hours on the phone and several hours writing emails, taking videos, disassembling, reassembling, etc. I'm not getting that time back, so might as well cut my losses. Operated in the USA with the quality of cheap Chinese trash. If you value your time or your money, stay away from this company.
