What a treasure of a restaurant in Big Bear Lake. Been here over 30 years. The servers and bartender are top notch They have the most delicious prime rib dinner. Thank you to Shawn for an excellent meal service tonight.

Went in the bar for the advertised happy hour. We were told that we had to set up at the bar to do happy hour because the rest of the tables in the bar were for dinner guests. It's pretty obvious that Captains Anchorage is now catering to tourists and is not welcoming the locals business. ***In reply to your reply. The very fact that you stated that you allowed us to be seated at a table is a clue that you have definitely changed your policy making us very uncomfortable from the very beginning. I guess in the 20 years we have been coming to the Anchorage we have always been allowed to come in the bar and set wherever we desired. Now the first thing we are ask on entering is ( do you have reservations? ),when we ask why the sudden change to your strick policy,we we told (oh were so busy we have to seat people in the bar for dinner). This is ridiculous when you have the whole upstairs for dinners. My take on this is your happy hour advertisement is just a draw to get people in and when your small bar is full(maybe 10 stools)patrions are forced to have dinner. Instead of a welcoming place captains has become a stuffy,rules and regulations establishment catering to tourists. We may come back for special occasions, but after this we are very uncomfortable just popping in for a cocktail and bite. It certainly isn't the Captains Anchorage it used to be. Sorry to say.
