Ava MD

My visit last week was about as perfect an experience as possible. As always Dr Ava was attentive, caring, and committed to making my treatments the absolute best. The rest of the team made sure I was promptly taken to a treatment room, my information was reviewed and updated with me, and that I was provided with an itemized invoice. I have been a patient of Dr Ava Shamban for eleven years. She understands what she is doing. She never seems rushed or distracted. She focuses fully on me during my visit. She provides treatments that yield great results. She is the best dermatologist I have ever had by far. Honestly, I can't imagine going to anyone else.

I love and 100% trust this office and the wonderful people that work here. KariAnne is a gem!!!! Shes even fixed mistakes other doctors have done and shes kind and extremely knowledgeable. I love Shirley too! She works in the front and is genuinely caring, honest and knowledgeable about everything! Shes been a saint since day one! And everyone there is truly fantastic! For facials i love Stephanie and Jen! This place is A++++++

really liked Ava MD but they are steadily increasing their prices on all kinds of services to ridiculous amounts. starting to feel like a place for the 1 percenters. you should also consider price adjustments for clients paying out of pocket for dermatology appointments. theres no reason i should pay 150 for a 20 min consult and additional 250 for a 30 second treatment. usually places will apply the consultation amount to the treatment/service. my physician requested that i come in next month for a follow up which come to find out would be an additional 150absolutely ridiculous especially since its the PAs request to ensure the effected area has been taken care of. on top of everything i was written a prescription for 2 items totaling $550 wouldve been nice to discuss other options especially since insurance doesnt cover it anyway. disappointing and unfortunately will be my last visit after years of coming here. the greed is disgusting.

I hate to write one star reviews, but this place is a joke. First, if you want to use your insurance, they charge you an "admin fee" of $300, which was never disclosed to be until after the visit. Even though my insurance covers my visit, if I want to use it I have to may $300 every year. So instead I had to paid cash of $200+ rather than a co-pay of $60.00. Second, I visit the NP, and she gives me some useless cream and a prescription at CVS. When I go to CVS, the pharmacist says that they don't even carry it and I wanted to get it, the cost would be $2,000+!!! I called AVA MD and they said they had a "special relationship" with another pharmacy that could do it for less, and they would refer me there and the pharmacy would call me. I received no calls, and called AVA MD again, and they apologized, and now two weeks later, still no call. Sorry to say this place is another money grab, and the doctor should be ashamed for charging $300 admin fee for no reason. Would not recommend so many other better places to go to in LA.
