I loved bringing my dog, Tyler, here to this dog run in the Berkeley Marina so much when we last resided in Oakland that I knew it would be the perfect outdoor venue for us. We barely had 10 people, including us, who could attend our that day. The world was 8 months into the 1st year of Covid-19 pandemic shutdown starting off our "Snoring Twenties" with a charlie horse and a sore lingering limp with a kick. We were just grateful courts reopened so we could file for our public civil ceremony. They had just closed indefinitely on April 13, 7 months prior. That week, I was near suicidal with more bad news. 3 new venues I was going to start on the evening of 4/20 were forced to shutter their doors the following week and indefinitely. I even tried to move up our wedding date to 4/20 with my heart set to wed underneath the dome of my City's Hall where love reigned supreme not just once but TWICE! Alas, the bell did not toll thrice for us... Fast forward a few months into Summer of 2020 the courts reopened just in time to file in another County or wait until 2021 to wed in SF. Instead, I chose a venue that I knew he'd love once he saw it. It was here that we finally chose to be married, united in mind, body, spirit, and science. We met in the middle on this photographer's dream overcast perfect chilly Autumn morning Berkeley Marina, in Cesar Chavez Park, upon our altar, the obelisk at the center of our church (site in Google Maps listed location as a "Museum") where we come to worship the night sky and celebrate the passage of time demarcating the annual passing of every solstice and equinox at the Solar Calendar @ 11/11/2020 at 11:11am in honor of the who fought and brought us together destined to meet every lifetime bc we are mated twin flames...

Perched on the highest hill nearest the bay, on a clear day an excellent 360 degree view. What better way to reflect on the vision and long range planning of Cesar Chavez and his life dedicated to improving the lives of farm workers. The calendar has evolved over the years and now has a lot of explanatory text to help you use it. Or just be reminded of the vast universe we are a part of. Be advised, it is off leash dog area adjacent and there are no fences. I have never had a problem there, but if dogs are a problem for you, you might want to sit this one out.
