Had a tall, cane-back dining chair repaired in this shop, and it came back like new, attained to match. No issues at all. Turnaround time was very reasonable.

The response I received after inquiring about classes and studio time with some chairs I am working on: "After a brief conversation w Jim, we both agree these chairs are not suitable for restoration by beginners. These are rush seats and it might take you a month of Saturdays to learn how to restore them. FYI, wed likely charge you $600 each to install new seats on these chairs. It is highly skilled labor. You should find something else to cut your teeth on." I was very surprised and disappointed to receive such a dismissive response when I am willing to put in time and money to learn a new skill, and they know nothing about me. I'm sure they are a skilled group of people, but for this reason I'll take my business elsewhere.

Obsessed with Jim. It would be really easy to take advantage of people who don't know the first thing about niche furniture repair and crafts (ie. almost everyone). Instead of charging a fortune, Jim actually taught me how to repair the paper cord on my used Danish chairs myself and only charged me for the materials used. He is a learned & encouraging teacher - grateful for his expertise and the opportunity to learn a new skill!

Such a throwback! It's like stepping back into 1964. Super helpful staff, and really into their craft. Highly recommend!
