The Days Run Away Like Wild Horse Over The Hills" Twenty years stretch out behind me distorted, yawning. A gaping maw of eternity. Twenty years is no time at all while you live it. But to look back on it, to remember it is to realize that somewhere along the way, your bright young hope-filled Family is now all grown up. Summit Park has been Home to my Family for nearly as long as it has been a Family and entirely as long as Summit Park has existed. When I was a kid, late 80s, my StepDad was a biker. He would take me on rides through the Hills on the weekends. I remember the turn we took when we would pass the hilltop upon which Summit Park stands now. It was just a hill, gently sloping down to the run-off creek which sloped down from Irvine Company's land, snaking through the gullies and neighborhoods and disappearing into sewers only to resurface again at the Santa Ana River. Years later, while living in Santa Ana, I was lucky enough to get a job as a plumber with a company who was installing A/Cs on schools in Fullerton. It paid prevailing wage. We had more money than we thought was possible, so we bought a Home in a new Community being built in Anaheim Hills for $160,000. Now, twenty years later, our son has grown and gone and my wife and I are moving again. This time far away, out of state with some bit of equity in our pocket. We have seen all of the firsts for Summit Park, seen most of the Original Owners move on. We were here during both big fires which came way too close. (During the first fire me and my son were the only people in the neighborhood who stayed after mandatory evacuation to watch the homes.) We made friends in Summit Park and we buried friends. We also experienced all of our Family firsts" here. My Son riding around the neighborhood on his big wheel dressed only in Superman underwear, exploring The Creek. Playing guns. Standing in line to get him into Running Springs. El Rancho. Canyon. Learning to drive. Prom. For us, the neighborhood is venerable. It has a long history and strong roots. If you are thinking about moving here, do so it is the environment for an amazing life. Watch that Association, though, they seem to get more and more controlling all the time. Do we really need cameras in the neighborhood, Board Members? Just who are you watching? Only the people who live here are here. I digress. Im moving and it isnt my problem any more. Thanks for everything Summit Park. Adieu.
