But every single time I checkout, it's the cashiers with the worst attitudes. The cashier today seemed irritated at me for stepping up to the counter a little too early, meandered behind the counter without any acknowledgement. There was no line and I wasn't in a rush so I waited. She stalled until a line formed and her two coworkers stepped up to clear it. When the checkout process started, she went from singing and vibing to a sour attitude, mispelled my name when double checking the rewards account (I've had this account for years), and then floated my receipt when I tried to take it, as if I was diseased or something.
I get it. I work retail too but I wasn't incessantly tapping my foot or card on the counter or yelling at the cashier to hurry up or any other typical Karen shenanigans. I'm just awkwardly standing there before being formally called up. A few braincells go missing once I go into customer mode, my bad for forgetting one social cue.
Shopping for makeup in-store is already a stressful event for me due to social anxiety, I don't need undeserved passive aggression to add on top of that. I will shop at Ulta strictly online from now. What is the point of keeping brick and mortar stores if you're going to hire people that will chase your customers away?
