I've had policies with Coast West for greater than 20 years. It took 5 years for them to quit sending me "Newspaper The Day You Were Born"  birthday cards covered in the horror of thalidomide babies. We recently changed who owned cars at our house, and our son had to get his own auto insurance, with Allstate because that's what Mon & Dad used.  I called and cancelled our auto policy, and followed up with an online note.FOUR MONTHS LATER I get an email that they are reviewing my request. ?!!!???!!!  I sent a request for clarification and received a note going "You didn't pay so we cancelled your auto insurance."Yehhhhhhhhhhhhh.

After 12 years of being with Allstate and never ever filing a claim, I was cancelled for being in a "Fire- hazard" area. Kidding me?! I'd lived in my house in the area for over 18 years and not a single house had ever burned. They changed the insurance code and then, either dropped you at will or required a very hefty supplemental such as the so called " California Fair-plan." Talk about "The Mafia!"
