We visited this shop yesterday after calling to confirm they had the tires we needed in stock. They had a great deal on two new tires. So we took one of our vehicles to get the tires put on. They finished quickly and when we got back to pay they insisted we had to pay with cash. We paid with cash, which went directly into the owners wallet and went out our way.
Later that afternoon while cleaning the car I noticed the tires were discolored and brown, which made me question the age of the tires. So I crawled underneath to get the date code on the tires to find they were manufactured in the middle of 2007. Sixteen year old tires! Six years passed the date they are legally allowed to be put on a vehicle!
Realizing this may have somehow been a mistake we had new tires installed by a different shop and took the new 16 year old tires back to be returned, asking simply for our money back.
The owner told me we could only get a partial amount back because he doesnt work for free. I explained that I couldnt legally drive on these tires and he couldnt legally install them on my vehicle. At this point he offered to give me my used tires back and a partial refund. I explained we needed a full refund and that we were told they we new tires, to which he said that they were never offered as new tires. We explained that they still had the stickers on them when he mounted them and touted them as new.
After arguing back and forth for a few minutes the owner pulled the remaining money out of his pocket told me to leave and not come back.
In summary, the owner sold us illegal unsafe tires to drive on, took no responsibility, called us liars, refused to give our money back, and when finally giving us a refund told us to never return. We have had great success with other local mom and pop tire shops but will never be back to this one.
