I went to have a lump removed from my eyelid. Twice, I said that I was only there to have a lump removed but Dr. Murphy pressed on with a very thorough eye exam. He talked at great length about Narrow angles how it predisposes one to an acute attack of glaucoma. He talked about lack of readily available eye care in the rural area I live in. He talked about laser peripheral iridotomy. He briefly mentioned cataracts. Dilation drops were placed in my eyes three different times. At the end of my visit, he talked to me about the reason I was there, removal of the lump on my eyelid. By this time, I was feeling distressed, creeped out and manipulated. When he said he would not use anesthesia to excise the lump, I told him I thought that would hurt. He said most people thought the anesthesia shot was worse than removal without anesthesia. He said he would start the procedure and if I said it hurt too much, he would stop. At this point, I left the building, with my lump fully intact.
