image They had done a good job previously on installing a new roof, but let me down in the last job. Said they could repair a flat roof that was leaking, instead of having to install a new roof. However, after the repair, the roof started leaking even more and caused significant damage. Very disappointed by the fact that they refused to accept any responsibility and make even a partial refund. There was a one year warranty on the repair, which turned out to be useless and the money spent on the repair was completely wasted (not to mention the damages caused inside by the leak). I ended up hiring another company to install new roof.
Responding to KMR's comment (10/6/20):
------------------------------------------------------------------------
>> "We said the entire roof needed to be replaced and this person said he could not afford a complete replacement. we gave him proposals for both a full replacement as well as a small repair. and he asked if we could do the small repair instead. we said we could, but would not be able to give him a full warranty on an old worn out roof when we are just doing patch work to get him by. this was all explained to him beforehand."
Simply not true. When I asked if we would be able to repair the spots that were leaking, you said that you were confident it could be done and might even last for a few years. You said it could leak at other spots and you couldn't guarantee that (which I completely understand), but there was a one year warranty on the repair your company did. Now you are denying that you gave a full warranty. Of course I'm not saying you gave a full warranty on the whole roof, but you did give a warranty on the repair you did (and the invoice mentions that as well). However, after the repair, it was leaking at the very same spots (not a new spot 5 ft away or even 2 ft away). Not only was it leaking, it was much worse than what it was originally. So what did the warranty cover anyway if it didn't even include the same spots?
>> "we also told him to not repair his already damaged interior until we find out if the leak had been remedied, but he did anyways. we were willing ( and always are) to make sure our work holds up, but when people decide to do things against our recommendations, we can not go back and fix problems that were caused from their actions."
So I'm to blame that I had to proceed with the interior remodeling (because people were waiting to move in) and your repair turned out bad? You said the repair was completed and even got paid. Why do I have to wait indefinitely (until there is a heavy rain) to see if your work was good enough?
>> "the leak was not new and the interior damages were present before we even stepped on the property."
No, there was previously no ceiling in that small section of the building. A ceiling was installed after the repair to the roof. This is the damage I am talking about.
>> "we were not hired at that time to fix the damage and he fixed himself before we were able to access the repair to see if it fixed an already bad situation."
I didn't fix anything myself, nor did I hire anyone else before you to fix those areas that were leaking.
Please don't shift the blame to the customer to cover up your mistakes.
